Self Gifting - 5 Things Brokers Can Gift Themselves This Holiday Season

In past blogs during November and December, we’ve often shared gift ideas you might consider for your business clients. This year, the spotlight is on you. Self gifting is one of the most practical ways insurance brokers can invest in long-term success. Whether the goal is productivity, wellness, or work-life balance, the right gifts to oneself can deliver value well beyond the holidays. Here are five things you might consider gifting yourself during the holiday season.

These are things that could help you do your job better, improve your life, or just items that might be of interest to you. (FYI, we are not receiving compensation for any of these suggestions. Our recommendations are based on what we’ve heard or read.)

5 Self-Gifting Ideas for Insurance Brokers This Holiday Season

1. Noise-Cancelling Headphones

If you haven’t made the investment yet in a good set of noise-cancelling headphones, some of the best options available are:

  1. Sony WH-1000XMg Wireless Noise-Cancelling Headphones (an industry-leading option that is excellent for blocking office, home, or airplane chatter; best for deep focus and travel; up to 31 hours of battery life)
  2. Jabra Evolve2 85 Headset (world-class headset with unique retractable boom mic system; up to 37 hours of battery life; probably the most expensive of the options outlined here)
  3. Bose QuietComfort Ultra (known for its legendary comfort and active noise cancellation, Bose headphones are considered the standard by many; this headset offers up to 30 hours of battery life depending on which generation you choose)
  4. Poly Voyager Focus 2 Headset (on-ear design may not appeal to all buyers; the smart mic noise reduction is considered top-tier; up to 19 hours of talk time and can function as wired headset when connected via USB)
  5. RUNOLIM Hybrid Active Noise Cancelling Headphones (the last of our over-ear design options, this is also the least expensive; up to 70 hours of playtime in standard music mode or up to 45 hours in advanced active noise cancellation mode)

Sources include Best Buy, Staples, Office Depot, Target, Walmart, CDW, Amazon, and many other online retailers. Some are offering special pricing for the holidays.

2. Portable Phone Charger

Whether you’re an iPhone enthusiast or Android devotee, having a fully charged phone is an essential part of daily life for insurance sales professionals. A portable charger can help you stay connected on the go.

Travel + Leisure published an October article in which they reviewed 14 different chargers. They named 10 top picks, and then best overall (and runner-up), best with built-in cables, best for laptops, best quick-charge, most compact, and others.

Earlier this month, the Wirecutter column of the New York Times published its own comparison of chargers and power banks for phones and tablets.

3. Standing Desk

You can reduce your back and neck pain, improve your posture, increase circulation, and boost your energy (and mood) with a standing desk. We all know it’s important to break up prolonged sitting during the day. A standing desk can really help. It will also increase your calorie burn and reduce your risk of chronic health conditions. Healthline offers 6 Benefits of a Standing Desk. Prices vary considerably, and you can buy a standing desk at many brick-and-mortar and online retailers: Ikea, Wayfair, Walmart, Amazon, Home Depot, Vari, and Herman Miller, among others.

4. Advanced Software

If your business doesn’t already have a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, it’s time. CRM can improve your customer service and business efficiency. It will enable you, your staff, and your colleagues to respond in real time to inquiries and requests. You can automate tasks, freeing you up to focus on more important things – like new sales. CRM allows you to track customer interactions over time, ensuring consistent, personalized experiences for all. You will also gain enhanced business insights and analysis, so you can track key performance indicators and identify trends across your business block. CRM can boost your credibility with prospects and help you generate new leads, while automating your follow-up. It’s a great tool to nurture retention and enhance communication.

PC Magazine published a CRM comparison in November 2025, which might help you choose the platform that’s right for your needs and budget. G2 offers another CRM comparison.

5. Other Tech Upgrades and Gadgets

Another tech upgrade you might consider is replacing your current mobile phone. Most of the major carriers (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon) and some smaller ones are offering noteworthy deals on the latest iPhone and Android devices. Others are offering service packages and discounts. This might be the time to combine your Internet and cell services. Be sure to check the online reviews before committing to a change.

Year-end deals are also available right now on ultra-wide monitors and laptops. PC Magazine may be able to help here, too.

Fitness rings have also attracted a lot of interest this year. There are many from which to choose. Besides Oura, there are options available from Quinux Gadium, RingConn, Smart Ring, and others. You can shop in-store at Target and Best Buy, or go online at Amazon, OuraRing.com, and elsewhere.

Of course, if your budget is limited, you may want to go with something less expensive like a Coffee Mug Warmer for your desk, Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, or even a new insulated water bottle. You’ve earned it.

Happy holidays and best wishes for success in 2026!
