Ameritas Acquires Security Life

Ameritas Life Insurance Corporation recently purchased Security Life Insurance Company.

Ameritas does not handle group life and disability business. It is in the best interest of your customer to allow Ameritas’ partner, Standard Insurance Company (The Standard), to take on the insurance and administration of the life and disability policies currently in force.

All current FirstChoice, SelectDent, and CalDent policyowners with Life, STD, and LTD insurance through Security Life will be written to similar or better insurance products offered through The Standard, an Ameritas trusted partner.

Current rates on these plans will extend 12 months from the next renewal date and any applicable premium processing fees will be waived, if coverage is rewritten by 6/1/16.

Brokers with current Security Life policies affected are being asked to help rewrite the business to The Standard. New business previously quoted while FirstChoice was still offering Life and Disability proposals will be honored.  The group will need to complete The Standard’s sold paperwork.

Underwriting for Dental and Vision coverage offered through FirstChoice, SelectDent, and CalDent will continue to be through Security Life, now a subsidiary of Ameritas.

If you have questions about the acquisition or the transition of select coverage to Standard Insurance Company of America, please contact your Word & Brown representative.
